TVSEP Panel Survey in Vietnam completed

The 8th TVSEP Household Panel in Vietnam has been completed on 12 December 2022 in Buon Ma Thout, the capital city of Dak Lak Province.  Dak Lak was the second TVSEP province, after Ha Tinh, where the survey has ended on 6 October.

Add-on project "Yield Measurement" in Thailand completed

Prof. Waibel in cooperation with Prof. Eric Strobl, Switzerland; Prof. Sabine Liebenehm, Canada and Adjan Nopporn Tantisirin, Ubon Rathchathani University (UBU), Thailand has carried out a TVSEP add-on project in Thailand.

TVSEP Panel Survey in Ha Tinh Province, Vietnam started

For the first time since 2017, TVSEP was able to resume its household panel survey in Vietnam. Currently, the survey is ongoing in the Province of Ha Tinh while waiting for Government Permission for Thua Thien Hue and Dak Lak province. The 2022 survey is the 8th panel wave in Vietnam.

9th TVSEP Household and Village Panel Wave in Thailand completed

The 9th panel wave of the Thailand Vietnam Socio Economic Panel (TVSEP) has been completed on June 10, 2022. It was the first full household survey since the start of the Covid-19 pandemic in February 2020 and therefore was an especially challenging task. A total of 2.101 out of 2.199 households were successfully interviewed, resulting in an attrition of below 5 %.

9th TVSEP Household Panel Wave in Thailand underway

13 May 2022

Since May 5, TVSEP has started its last household panel survey of phase II of the project. There are three provincial teams, i.e. for the TVSEP provinces Nakhon Phanom, Ubon Ratchathani and Buri Ram. A total of 45 enumerators organized into 9 sub teams and supervised by a sub team leader are interviewing up to 90 households per day.

Report on TVSEP Special Village Head Survey in Thailand published

In November 2021 a special survey of all 220 TVSEP villages in Thailand was carried out by Prof. Hermann Waibel and Mr. Niels Wendt from LUH together with partners from the TVSEP Data Collection Center at Ubon Ratchathani University (UBU).

Best Paper Award - International TVSEP Conference

The TVSEP Team invites submissions for a Best Paper Award for a scientific paper that uses the TVSEP household data.  The award ceremony will be held within the International TVSEP Conference on "Shocks and resilience in rural Southeast Asia" on May 23 and 24, 2022 in Göttingen, Germany.

TVSEP junior researcher Mark Brooks presented his paper ‘PAPI is gone, but errors remain – Non-sampling errors in household surveys’ in the panel session ‘Methods, data and modelling’ on the second day of the annual German Development Economics Conference.

Ongoing: Special Covid-19 migrant survey in Thailand

The special TVSEP Covid-19 Migrant Survey is currently ongoing by undertaking complementary telephone interviews with migrant household members of the 2200 rural households in the panel.

TVSEP Covid-19 Survey in Thailand completed

The household survey implemented during November and December 2020 to measure the impact of Covid-19 in Northeast Thailand was completed on Christmas Day, 25 December. The survey team of the TVSEP Data Collection Center at Ubon Ratchathani University held their final meeting in the Province of Nakhon Phanom. The conduct of the survey has been a big challenge, because the TVSEP team from LUH was not able to go to Thailand for the supervision of the survey, as was the case during the many TVSEP survey waves in the past. All training and supervision had to be done via online formats.
