Two new papers using TVSEP panel data in the American Journal of Agricultural Economics (AJAE)

TVSEP is proud to announce the publication of two papers using TVSEP panel data in the American Journal of Agricultural Economics (AJAE).

First, there is the paper by Prof. Dr. Andreas Wagener and Dr. Juliane Zenker: “Decoupled but not neutral: The effects of counter-cyclical cash transfers on investment and Incomes in rural Thailand.”

The paper not only is a great contribution to the literature, it also keeps the memory of our highly respected TVSEP-colleague, the late Andreas Wagener, alive. We wish he could have still experienced the “harvest” of his excellent work. TVSEP highly appreciates the support of Dr. Juliane Zenker, involved in TVSEP’s field activities in the 2013 survey wave and now a Dorothea Schloezer Postdoctoral Fellow at the University of Goettingen, who completed the publication.

The second paper is by Katharina Grabrucker and Prof. Dr. Michael Grimm: “Is there a rainbow after the rain? How do agricultural shocks affect non‐farm enterprises? Evidence from Thailand”.  In their paper, the authors are using socioeconomic data from five TVSEP survey waves in Thailand and combine them with gridded precipitation data from the University of Delaware. Their research is novel in the sense of showing the implications of rainfall shocks for agriculture and the connection with rural households’ non-farm enterprises.

Katharina Grabrucker is PhD candidate at the University of Passau and Michael Grimm is holder of the Chair of Development Economics at the University of Passau. He is currently also the Chairman, of the Research Committee for Development Economics of the German Economic Association (VfS) and he is a member of TVSEP’s International Advisory Panel.

The American Journal of Agricultural Economics (AJAE) is ranked as Number 1 among the international journals in Agricultural Economics with an Impact factor 3.028. Acceptance of papers by AJAE is subject to a highly rigorous review process. TVSEP congratulates the authors for successfully promoting TVSEP panel data. We congratulate the authors for successfuly using TVSEP panel data in their research.
